ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Project Information

What is a Project?

Project, thesis or dissertation is an independent exercise, which is assigned by universities. The purpose of the Project Work is to enable you to gain practical experience. Through the Project, you will be expected to put into practice all that you have learnt during your course work.

Award of the diploma/degree is subject to a successful completion of your Project. To be able to successfully complete the diploma/degree you must secure a minimum number (generally 40% of marks) prescribed by universities. The length of your Project Work may be between 4000 to 5000 words in 70-100 pages of A4 size which should be typed in double-space.

What are the Parts of a Project?

There are two parts of a project—Synopsis and Report. Once the synopsis gets approved, the second part is to prepare a report on it. But, in some courses, universities need only report of the project.

What is synopsis/project proposal?

Your Proposal is essentially a description of what you propose to do and how you intend to go about it. After identifying the area of study and a proper topic, you should prepare a Project Proposal/ Synopsis in 400-1000 words depending on your course. In your Proposal, you should mention the objectives of your study, the kind of data that is available and a work plan that you propose to follow. Proposal should also include the issues you are going to raise while conducting your work. Students are advised to keep a copy of project proposal because universities shall not send your copy back.

What is the process after completing the synopsis?

After a synopsis gets completed, its approval is necessary from the guide/supervisor. If it gets approved by the guide, then and only then, that student can create a report.

What are the steps for the approval of the synopsis?

(1) First of all, you need to contact with you guide/supervisor for signature.
(2) If your synopsis gets approved, you will get the signature of your guide. In case, your guide feels that your synopsis needs some improvements, he will direct you to come with the improved synopsis. Then in that case, you will get his signature when you come up with the improved synopsis as directed.
(3) The synopsis is signed by the guide after all corrections have been made.
(4) After getting signed by the guide, you need to go to the head office of your university for the approval of the synopsis.
(5) You can also submit your synopsis by post.
(6) After submission, it takes at least one to two month/s for the approval of the synopsis.

If the guide does not provide any corrections, is there any assurance that my synopsis will be approved?

No, if there is no suggestion for correction/improvement, it does not mean that there is assurance of approval. It depends upon the examiners to either approve or reject your synopsis.

Are there any chances of rejection of the synopsis?

Yes, sometimes synopses get rejected. Reason may be anything, sometime your guide/supervisor or sometime your selected topic.

When can I find out if my synopsis is approved or not?

After 1 or 2 month/s of submitting the synopsis, you get a letter related to the synopsis submitted.

How to proceed if my synopsis gets rejected?

If your synopsis is rejected, you need to prepare a new synopsis on a fresh topic. Sometime you have to choose another guide/supervisor.

What happens after a synopsis gets approved?

Once you get the approval of your synopsis from the head office, you have to make a report of that synopsis.

What is the next process after making the report?

After creating your report, the next step is to take the signature of your guide. After getting the signature of your guide, you will need to bind the whole project—synopsis, approval letter and report. After that, you need to go to the head office of your university (you can also send your report by post) for submitting your whole project.

How can I submit my report?

In order to submit the report, you must hard-bind it and submit it in your university.
